Online Social Networking
written by Steven Barrymore

I have dabbled in online social networking. I have failed at online social networking. I do understand that each online social networking site is a ‘community’ of like-minded people. There is an etiquette to online social networking, of which I bungled on one popular site. Not a big bungle, but I am a better online social networker for it. Walking On The Earth

Walking On The Earth
written by Steven D. Farmer, Ph.D.

I recall when I was in my early twenties, I was having dinner with my family and my nephew Danny, who was 14, had joined us. My father had just given a bit of grandfatherly advice to Danny, then quickly followed by saying, “But it probably doesn’t matter what I say.” Not in a way of trying to get reassurance from any of us at the table, but a sincere comment that betrayed how he thought about himself, that who he was had no impact on others.

I realized at that very moment that my father never thought he mattered or had any effect on his world, particularly with those whom he loved and loved him. I stopped in the middle of eating, looked at him and caught his eye. Although I had never expressed anything strongly to him in his entire life, I stated emphatically, “Yes it does! Don’t put yourself down that way. What you have to say to Dan really matters a great deal!” Continue reading “Walking On The Earth” »

More Unexplained and Unexpected

The photographic subjects I image for Images Magical don’t come by accident. I feel that I am directed — not by a voice — but by an intuitive feeling to these subjects.

Below are two images, part of the http://www.imagesmagical.com/ Images Magical collection. Two more images that I was directed to. You may have had times in your life where you were directed to an event or experience, and from this experience received an ‘ah ha’ moment. A moment of connection with the world around you. A moment that you can’t explain.

Title TBD (To Be Determined)

It had very distinctive features . . . what came into view was truly amazing.

While out on a 150-mile round trip journey to an area I frequent to photograph subjects for the http://www.imagesmagical.com/ Images Magical website. I stopped at a grouping of trees to see what they were up to. Took a few photographs, got in the car and was about to drive off down the road. I spotted a tree in the distance. It had very distinctive features. I got out of my car, with camera in hand and walked toward this tree. From a side view of the tree I saw an interesting feature. As I walked through the tall grass surrounding this tree, I made my way around to the back of the tree trunk and what came into view was truly amazing. I raised the camera viewfinder to my eye and photographed this image (image 1). Continue reading “Title TBD (To Be Determined)” »
